Choreography

Jim has been creating his own choreographic and site specific work since 2008. He has been giving workshops in Belgium, Holland, Sweden, Russia and Australia teaching his own improvisation techniques and somatic practices. In 2014 he received a special mention for his piece “A faint memory” at the Katapult competition in Göteborg. 

In 2015 Jim choreographed “A Mind’s Echo” for the NuDans program premiering at the Göteborg Opera. In 2015 he was invited to St-Petersburg together with Arika Yamada to create a new choreographic piece for the Open Look International Dance Festival. In 2016 Jim co-founded the creative platform “Odd in a knot”. This platform’s aim is to facilitate research 

and creative endeavours across different fields of art. In its first year of existence Odd in a knot has been collaborating with the Architecture department of the Chalmers university, researching the common ground between Architecture and Dance. Odd in a knot has premiered its first full evening performance at the AHA Festival 2016 in Göteborg. 

In 2017 Jim was invited back to St-petersburg, This time to perform his solo “Archival Sketches” and to make a creation with Russian local dancers. In 2018 he collaborated with other Odd in a Knot members to create the full evening dance/theater piece “11 attempts to understand why”

which premiered at Frilagret in Göteborg. His latest collaboration is with Pascal Marty with whom he created the full evening duet titled “Loki” for Dans i Nord
