There is only us

Photographic series

by Jim De Block

In “There is only us” bodies are frozen in time and landscapes have fallen in ruin. In the imagery, naked shapes are often contorted and imbued with fragility and loneliness. A yearning desire for true connection can be felt in this dystopian and ever increasingly disconnected world.

The entropic nature of our world is unavoidable. In the end everything will decay, however this is not a nihilistic take on this concept. Instead with the juxtaposing of material decay and human bodies in search for connection, I try to point at what is really valuable in this lifetime we all get once. Each Other.
